Rung by the local band with the bells half muffled to mark the centenary of the death of Private Reuben Horton who served in the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own) and was killed in action on 30th January 1915 aged 35. He was the first Nocton resident to be killed during the Great War.
This quarter was specially arranged and rung after we realised we had missed the centenary in January.
When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.
Honourable age does not depend on length of days, nor is the number of years a true measure of life.
(Rung also for the Lincoln Diocesan Guild)
