Rung half-muffled on the centenary of the death of Private George Arthur Turner of the 2nd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, 89th Brigade, 30th Division. George was a farm worker living with his parents, two brothers and three sisters at Valley Farm, Buxhall. He was one of four brothers who all served in the war. Although it is not known when he was wounded, George's Battalion was in action during the Battles of the Somme and he died of wounds on 24 December, aged 27. He is buried in Warlincourt Halte British Cemetry, Saultry in France.
