Son of Joseph and Jane Howell of Smethwick. Husband of Mary Howell. He worked as a stonemason before enlisting. Born: Walsall, Staffs Enlisted: Smethwick, Staffs. Resided (1911 Census): 35 Cemetery Road, Ferndale Smethwick. Bell ringer at Smethwick and St Bartholomew Edgbaston and member of St Martin’s Guild.
