Dedicated to the memory of Private Ernest William Ellis, a ringer at this church and a member of the Salisbury DG, who died on 04/09/1916, aged 23. He served in the 1st Bn Duke of Cornwall's LI and is commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial, France. He was born in Rampisham and worked as a Farm Labourer before enlisting. Also dedicated to the memory of Private Thomas Robert Scadden Weller, a ringer at nearby Litton Cheney and a member of the Salisbury DG, who died on 24/08/1916 in the Canadian General Hospital at Etaples, France, age 36. He served in the 1st/1st (Bucks) Bn Oxford and Bucks LI. He was born in Litton Cheney and worked as a farm labourer on his sister's farm in Litton Cheney. (It was not possible to ring at Litton Cheney in his memory as the bells are soon to undergo restoration work).
