Rung half-muffled in memory of Private Robert George Mirrington, no. 18521 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiments, 84th Brigade, 28th Division.

Born in Buxhall, Robert George Mirrington was the son of Emma Mirrington. In 1911 Robert and his mother lived in Buxhall. He died of malaria on 27 August 1916 aged 26 in Salonika (Thessaloniki). The 1st Suffolks landed in Salonika on 29 November 1915, and by mid 1916 they were operating in the Struma valley, a malarial hotspot. He was buried in Lahana Military Cemetery, Greece (grave ref 11.B.9).
