Rung half muffled on the centenary of the death on 27th July 1916 of Chief Engineer Albert Smith who died of injuries sustained in a naval collision in fog off Sheerness. He had recently returned from the battle of Jutland and had been promoted to Chief Engineer of Torpedo Boat 9. He was buried in Oxenhope Cemetery. Albert had been a member of the first peal band in the village, ringing seven minor methods on 28th February 1903.
Also, a welcome return to quarter peal ringing by Celia, twelve months after a triple bypass operation, and Graham's long awaited first quarter in the tower.
