For the centenary of the death of Harry Champion, who was born 18/11/1892, learnt to ring at Penistone in 1912, originally enlisted in the Sheffield Pals in 1914 but was transferred to the Royal Field Artillery and sent to France in 1915. He died from wounds received in action on 27 June 1916 near Thiepval.
