A former East Yorkshire Motor Services bus awaits wedding guests outside St Mary's, Cottingham, East Yorkshire, to take them to the reception; the bride and groom had to make do with a vintage Bentley. The double deck bus (AEC Regent V/Willowbrook 1956) is one of several specially built with a tapered upper section and curved roof to negotiate Beverley North Bar, a former gateway to the town.

Meanwhile, the ringers are taking hold for their second wedding of three in six days since lock down ended, and their first on a Monday ever. Last August, five socially distanced or related ringers rang for the induction of the new rector, Revd. Dr Nicola Bown, previously curate at Linton near Cambridge. Otherwise, during lock down, the bells were chimed using the Ellacombe apparatus with the worry that villagers might prefer hymns to changes. Reassuringly, the resumption of full circle ringing has resulted in several favorable comments.

St Mary's Cottingham has a peal of 8 bells, (tenor 20 cwt) and is well known by former Hull University students whose halls of residence were located in the village. Sadly, the halls have closed with new accommodation built on campus in nearby Hull, so visits by students are rare.
