Neil and Andrew Aspland are not from a ringing family, but their parents have always been very supportive of their ringing activities, from the moment in 1975 when Dr David Atkins asked two of his choirboys if they would like to learn to ring. So it was fitting that Denis and Eileen's Diamond Wedding Anniversary was marked by a peal at their parish church of St Giles, Pontefract. Neil and Andrew were joined by many other ringers who had met their parents, including David Atkins’ daughter Sally. The band rang Plain Bob Royal with an appropriate length of 5060, composed for the occasion by Neil. Denis and Eileen were present at the start and end of the peal, and joined the band for a photo afterwards.

L to R: Sally Brown, Paul Brook, Andrew Aspland, Denis Aspland, Derek Johnstone, Eileen Aspland (with card from the Queen), Pam Hudson, Robert Wood, Neil Aspland, Barrie Dove, Janine Jones, James Holdsworth.
