Marking today as the 14th Anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations.
In 2008, then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, apologised on behalf of the Australian Government to the Stolen Generations - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities and Country. The apology acknowledged the profound grief, suffering and loss caused to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as a result of past Government policies and laws.
Believed method rung for the first time and named Reverse Big Scrub Rainforest (3.3.1.3.1.3.1.1) being method no 43 from group 43 of singles methods with 8 changes per lead provided by David Holmes.
Lismore is situated in what was once an extensive subtropical rainforest known as the "Big scrub" by early white settlers. Some remnants still survive.
Reconciliation for people, land and Country.

Rung to commemorate 80 years since the bombing of Darwin which took place on the 19th February 1942.
World War II forced itself onto Australia’s mainland for the first time, when Japanese aircraft mounted a deadly air raid on Darwin, dropping more bombs than were used in the attack on Pearl Harbour. The loss of life and devastation was profound. This attack marked the first of at least 64 air raids on Northern Australia and attacks continued until 12 November 1943.
On this day as on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day, we reflect on our past, pay tribute to the service men and women who courageously defended our country, and remember all those who were affected by the war fought over Northern Australia.
It was also devastating for the local Aboriginal community, their land had already been taken from them, and with the bombs it was being destroyed.
The Day also embraces reconciliation as Indigenous and non-Indigenous people fought side-by-side to protect our country and Aboriginal people are now being recognised for their contribution to the War effort.
Darwin is also a place of reconciliation with the Japanese people who have now become one of our most trusted and loyal friends in which to create a world of human dignity, human rights, and the rights of nations to live free of coercion and bullying.
Lest we forget.

Following the installation of the bells in this Chapel, Michael helped Mary and John Townsend to teach the school's students to ring. He also rang for the opening of the Bell Tower in 2000. The method was chosen because Michael studied at Cambridge University.
