Rung to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Battles of Fromelles and Pozieres on the Western Front. These battles were the first major involvement of Australian forces on the Western Front. The first day of the Battle of Fromelles was the worst day in Australian military history with 1,917 dead in 24 hours. The great grandfather of the conductor was involved in the Battle of Pozieres as a medical officer. For his gallantry in saving wounded soldiers he was awarded the Military Cross. Dr Corlis (1st ANZAC Corps) refused to retreat choosing instead to stay and treat the wounded. He epitomised the catch cry of the battle “Don’t forget me cobber”. Charles Bean wrote of the bravery of those involved in Fromelles and Pozieres “rises above the mists of time, a monument to great hearted men, and their nation – a possession for ever” For all those who perished in these battles, LEST WE FORGET Australian & New Zealand Association Hamilton, New Zealand Cathedral Church of St Peter the Apostle Sunday, 24 July 2016 in 37m (11–1–2) 1260 Mixed Doubles (1p, 4m) Stedman, Grandsire, St Simons, St Martins, Plain Bob 1 Pam McAdam 2 Mary Sluter 3 Wendy Tyrrell 4 John Barnard 5 Frank Sluter (C) 6 Daniel Watson For Evensong Australian & New Zealand Association Pimlico, Greater London St Saviour Wednesday, 27 July 2016 in 2h 37 (7–1–20) 5040 Minor (7m) 720 each of London S, Beverley S, Ipswich S, Cambridge S, Kent T B, St Clements College Bob, Plain Bob. 1 Philip R Goodyer 2 Rachel Titmuss 3 Andrew V Brown 4 Murray-Luke Peard 5 Peter I Harrison 6 Christopher D O'Mahony (C) Wedding compliment to James and Claire Smith Ringing World page reference: 5494.0825Australian & New Zealand Association Eastwood, New South Wales 4 Spencer St Wednesday, 27 July 2016 in 30m (8 in C) 1260 Stedman Doubles 1–2 Bill Perrins (C) 3–4 Thomas Perrins 5–6 Esther Perrins Australian & New Zealand Association Brisbane, Queensland St John's Cathedral Wednesday, 27 July 2016 in 45m (7–2–13) 1272 Berwick Surprise Minor 1 Mike Toze 2 David Smith 3 Robert Wirth 4 Patrick Johns 5 Ed Gosden 6 Ian McCulloch (C) First in the method for all ringers.
