To commemorate the firing of two cannon on St Cyres Hill, near Honiton by the Luppitt Artillery after receiving news of the victory at Trafalgar. The cannon were the property of, and fired under the direction of, Major-General Simcoe, Commander of His Majesty's Forces in the South-West. These cannon were sold at auction by Christies on Wednesday, November 2nd., 2005 for £ 90,000.
