Mike was also an Honorary Life Member of the North Wales Association, and a former lecturer at Bangor University. This quarter peal was rung by a band including 7 current and former students of Bangor University, as well as the current Tower Captain of Beaumaris. Additionally, the University’s flag was flown at half mast today, above the Main Arts building, in memory of Mike. Rung also for the Bangor Student Society of Change Ringers. Each row of rounds (the bells rung in order in a downward scale) was rung to represent one year of the life of the church. Firing is when every bell rings at the same time. This is a traditional way of celebrating a significant event. The 6 bells at Halkyn were fired 30 times, making 180 blows in total.
