Rung in memory of Private Sydney Rodgers of the 8th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed on 28th February 1916 aged 20. He was the son of Charles and Alice Ann Rodgers of High St Edwinstowe and the younger brother of Bernard who was killed in India in 1914. Sydney was a farm labourer and was born in Sheffield. He had two younger sisters, Alice and Phyllis Ada and two younger brothers, Ernest and Clarence. He is remembered on the memorial in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France

Bell ringers 'strike back' against blood cancer.

A quarter peal was rung as part of an International ringing event in support of Leukaemia cancer research, where 200 churches and twenty five cathedrals across the UK and rest of the world including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Hawaii, Ireland and Canada took part.

Julie McDonnell arranged the event to help fund vital research and give other blood cancer sufferers a chance of life. The aim was to raise £100,000 and to add 1,000 potential stem cell donors to the Anthony Nolan and associated registers.

Failed peal attempt, rung to commemorate the centenary of the death of Thomas Woodford of this parish, who was killed in action on 1st July 1916 aged 19, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

Rung in memory of Fred Rabbitt who was a private in the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters( Notts and Derbys) Regiment. He died on the 8th July 1916 aged 29. He is buried in the Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz, Somme, France. Fred was born in Edwinstowe, son of Maria and the late Samuel Rabbitt of High Street Edwinstowe. He was married to Edith Harriet Rabbitt, nee Marison in 1914, and lived at 30, Gilbert Rd., Bircotes, Harworth, Nottinghamshire. Both Fred and his brother Harry worked as Labourers in the Woods.

His brother Harry was killed earlier in the war fighting in Gallipoli. Fred had two further brothers, William, an Assistant overseer for the Poor Law Authority, and Archie a Painter Decorator and three Sisters Theresa, Ida and Ivy -all domestic servants.

Rung as a compliment to Ralph Hawthorn (Treble), former Ringing Master of South Notts District, on his 80th birthday.

This peal was the 4th of the day and the first time 4 peals have been rung in a day at Clifton, Nottinghamshire. With special thanks to the Incumbents & local ringers for their hospitality at Clifton & Ruddington and especially to Peter Hayward & Thomas Johnson for being our support during the day.

Marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter who gave us well loved characters such as Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Squirrel Nutkin to name but a few!

Rung immediately after the service of Thanksgiving for the life of Bob Newton, a Sunday service ringer at this tower.

Bidding a very fond farewell to Nathan (Blyth tower captain) & Gemma Fisher, who are moving to Tyne and Wear.

Specially arranged to celebrate Bryan Birkett achieving 50 years service as tower captain at this church. Under Bryan's leadership the bells at Sutton have been transformed in several stages over the years. In 1966 the old three (6-8 of the present ring) were rehung. Augmentation to four followed in 1981, then to five in 1986, to six in 1991 and finally to eight in 1998!

The band would like to associate Andrew Hall, Melanie Newman and Nathan Fisher with this peal, all of whom rang in the previous unsuccessful attempt, but were unable to ring today.

Specially arranged and rung with the bells open in thanksgiving for the life of Sarah Hawkins, former ringer at this Church whose funeral took place here earlier today.

In remembrance of Willoughby villager Lance Corporal Fred Atkinson, aged 30 years, of the 1st Leicestershire Regiment, died 15th September 1916. He has no known grave but his name is on the Thiepval Monument.

Rung in memory of Clarence Jenkinson Belfield who was a rifleman in the 21st battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps. He was killed on 17th September 1916 aged 25. He died in the battle of the Somme and is named on the Thiepval Memorial.He was killed by a direct hit from a shell whilst tending to the company's carrier pigeons and died instantly. He was a farmers assistant, married, and lived with his wife,mother, Mary Ellen Bellfield, and two brothers, Ernest and Norman Edgar, also Farmers assistants, at the Dog and Duck at Clipstone. His father John died before 1911.

Best wishes to Lydia Parkes of the local band, who shortly begins her chemistry degree course at the University of Nottingham. Our regards also to Stuart Brown, who was unable to make the proposed peal attempt, due to illness.

The quarter was rung on the spur of the moment during practice night, which gave a couple in the band the chance to ring a long session of method practice.

Remembering Jean Margaret Freeman (Mandy's mum), who died 20 years ago today.

Rung to celebrate the life of Ton Janssen of Geldrop Holland, who sadly passed away on 1st September 2016. Ton was one of the Geldrop Chimers who came over to the UK to learn to ring full circle, organised by George Dawson, with a number of the band helping out on these courses and meeting Ton when he was over here last.

A peal attempt called round after a power cut put us in the dark at the start of the second extent. “George evidently has not paid his tower electricity bill and has no mod cons like emergency lighting in the tower!!!!!!”

Rung in thanksgiving for the life of Bob Metcalfe by regular members, current and past, of the Stanford quarter peal band of which Bob was a regular and inaugural member. Bob's drive, encouragement and expertise enabled this band to progress way beyond its original 2004 objective of ringing 8-spliced. He is sorely missed.
