Rung Half muffled in memory of Private Bernard Rodgers of the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders on the 100th anniversary of his death. He died on 11th September 1914 aged 27 and is buried in Karachi cemetery, India. He was the eldest son of Charles and Alice Rodgers of High Street Edwinstowe and was the first serviceman from Edwinstowe to be killed in the Great War. His younger brother Sidney was also killed at a later date in the same War.

Rung half muffled in memory of Able Seaman Clarence Wardale who was killed on HMS Good Hope in the Battle of Coronel off the coast of Chile on 1 November 1914. Clarence was 26 years old and the son of William and Annie Wardale of Rufford Road Edwinstowe. He had 11 brothers and sisters. HMS Good Hope and HMS Monmouth were both sunk with the loss of all hands, some 1570 men, at the cost of three German wounded on board the Gneisenau.
