Rung to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Alfred Tennyson (Poet Laureate) who was born 4 miles down the road in Somersby (Lincs) on 6th August 1809.
Tennyson would have been 16 years old when this peal of six new bells were installed here at Langton Church in 1825 and he would have no doubt heard them ringing out.
In 1850 Tennyson wrote the poem "Ring Out, Wild Bells" which forms part of “In Memoriam”.

Rung following the funeral with the bells open, to celebrate the life of Betty Cheetham M.B.E of Shelford. She was a lady who did so much for the village and in Scouting she was awarded one of the highest accolades the silver wolf as well as being involved in other numerous organisations, who loved to hear the bells. A remarkable lady who will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace.
