John Coles initially learnt to ring at St Marys Walthamstow in 1955 and rang his first Quarter Peal in 1956. He stopped ringing at some point after that but resumed following encouragement to start again from David R Smith, Ian G Campbell and Alan Regin. He started ringing again on 29th October 2015 at St Mary the Virgin Stotfold, ringing his 2nd Quarter Peal during June 2016, some 60 years after his first. John is now actively ringing at a number of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire towers. His first peal is a result of help and encouragement from many local ringers. He has a very good peal ringing pedigree - his Grandfather, Charles T Coles, rang 1014 peals! Congratulations John!
