This peal has the 6th her extent behind the 9th, and also behind the 8th in the hand-stroke home position.
First peal on ten bells - 4, 6, and 10.
Also first peal on ten bells away from the tenor - 5.
Messrs Sear and Reader hail from Bletchley, Newell from Reading, Houghton from Irthlingborough, the remainder belong to the local band.
It was intended to ring this peal on the relief of Mafeking, but owing to several of the local band having left Bedford lately, it was rang on this occasion with the help of several out-county members.
