Rung on the 100th anniversary of the death of Horace Charles Sanders who was a ringer at our church. He farmed at Bodgardi Farm which lies within the sound of our bells with his mother and brother.

He joined the North Devon Yeomanry and was sent to the Egyptian Expeditionary Force. He was killed on 6th November 1917 at Tel El Sheria fighting Turkish Forces in the second battle of Gazza. This was part of the campaign to take Jerusalem by Christmas that year.

He lies in the Jerusalem War Graves Cemetery.
