Rung in memory of C/Sjt William A Fowler, 2nd Battalion Royal Marine Light Infantry, one time ringer at Taunton St Mary’s & a member of the Bath & Wells DACR. He was killed in action aged 30 on 5th February 1917 & is buried in Connaught Cemetery, Thiepval. He is one of 4 St Mary’s ringers killed in WW1, commemorated on the old Treble bell and a tablet over the tower door.
