I can only speak as a member of this band and the joy that was felt that this Q was a success. It was not perfection but, a great satisfaction that Anne was able to achieve her aim at ringing Rutland. As far as I was concerned a “registered blind" ringer will always find 3rds from the back difficult. After all where is 3rds when one cannot see where 3rds is? One does it by feel I suppose. It was her first blows in Rutland and at 73 I am amazed, the success as far as I could see was due to two important factors. One, the conductor had put great thought into the composition, to leave it as long as possible before she was concerned in any calls, these were made with perfection when they did occur. Two, the co-operation by the band ringing with her and around her when necessary. The Q was her 5th S. Major method inside and I thought I heard her say "What's Pudsey like?" so maybe we are not finished yet! A.F.L.
