Rung in memory of Captain Robert Elliott Stavert, London Regiment, Royal Fusiliers who was killed in action on 25th August 1918 at Bucquoy, France and was buried at Bucquoy Communal Cemetery Extension. He was a ringer at Bushey and rang in over 150 peals including 31 at Bushey. After enlistment on 07th September 1914 he saw service in Gallipoli and later in France. His grave was visited by Simon Linford, Alan Regin and the late Chris Leach during the 1980’s and again by a group of ringers on 25th August 2008.

Their name liveth for evermore.

In memory of Bertram Prewett, 18th Bn London Regiment (London Irish Rifles), of Bushey, Herts, killed in action in France 100 years ago, 31 August 1918.

He rang 953 peals and is generally regarded as one of the finest ringers of his generation. He is laid to rest at the Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetery in France.

Their name liveth for evermore.

In memory of Bertram Prewett, a prolific Bushey Ringer who died on this day in 1918.

Rung in memory of Rifleman Bertram Prewett of Bushey, Hertfordshire, London Rifle Brigade and London Irish Rifles. Killed in action 31st August 1918. Buried at Sailly Saillisel British Cemetery.

One of the greatest ringers of his generation. At the time of his death he had rung 953 peals, one of these was rung at Llangollen on 13th September 1907, Superlative S Major, in 3 hours and 7 minutes.
