He served with the Royal Marine Light Infantry and was killed in action at the Dardanelles 07th May 1915 and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Cape Helles, Turkey. He was employed by the firm of John Dickinson & Co. at their Apsley Mill works which occupied a large area opposite this church. He is remembered on the John Dickinson & Co.’s 2 War Memorials which have been preserved in two locations on the Apsley Mill site. Their name liveth for evermore.
