World premiere of 'Everyone Sang', a new composition by Andrew Carvel for choir, orchestra, children's voices and church bells based on Siegfried Sassoon's poem, and performed as a part of 'Seeking Peace - Reflections on Armistice' a programme of music and historical symposium.
Ringing of the bells was an integral part of the music, featuring tolling, discordant raising of bells and rounds. Variation of volume of bell-sound conveyed to the audience in the church was achieved by opening and closing internal hatches and doors

Rung in memory of the 205 soldiers and sailors returning from war service, who lost their lives on the night of Hogmanay 1918/19 when HM Yacht Iolaire foundered on the Beasts of Holm outside Stornaway, Isle of Lewis.
Amongst those lost was Carpenter Frederick Charles McCarthy, a ringer from Stranton, near Hartlepool. His body was not found.
