Rung in fond memory of Dr Abdel Rahman Elias Elamin, Alison’s friend and colleague, close to the laboratories in which he worked until shortly before his tragic accident last February. One of Abdel’s last comments on social media was “Empty vessels make the most noise”; were he to enter into some characteristically witty banter about the well-struck noise which celebrated his life today, he would be assured that the performance was conducted not with an empty heart, but with one full of compassion for his family to whom he was devoted, and admiration for his achievements and values.
