Rung half muffled in memory of Private Arthur James Knights recorded in the Roll of Honour for Bell Ringers as having been a Norton Subcourse ringer and a member of the Norwich Diocesan Association.

He died on 26/02/1917 aged 23 years. Norfolk Regiment 2nd Bn. Service No. 14381. Commemorated at Amara War Cemetery, Iraq, Grave XXIX B 57/66. Born 09/08/1893. Son of James Knights and Emma Knights (nee Bacon) of Low Road, Thurlton. One of 6 children. He worked as a farm labourer before enlisting. Born, Thorpe Next Haddiscoe, Norfolk. Enlisted Norwich, Norfolk. Resided ( 1911 Census) Low Road, Thurlton, nr Loddon.

He was one of 21 ringers that are known to have died in February 1917 during the Great War.

Rung in memory of Pte. G/316575 Joseph Thomas Baker who was the 4th Ryburgh casualty of the month who died in France on March 14th 1917. He enlisted with the 7th Infantry Labour Company of the Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment. He went to France in February 1917 where he contracted pneumonia which led to his death just over a month later at the 43rd Casualty Clearing Station at Warlincourt in France. RIP.

Rung in memory of Private William Albert Hempel, Australian Infantry, A.I.F. 8th Bn. Private Hempel was born in Ber Street, Norwich, on 12/12/1893 and was a ringer at St John de Sepulchre, Norwich. The back 6 of these bells were transfered to Erpingham in 1987, along with the Peal Board, which shows a Peal rung by William in 1911. He died on 4 Oct 1917 in Belgium (KIA (Battle of Broodseinde - part of Passchendaele), aged 23.

Rung half-muffled to the memory of Pte. 3/10195 Bertie John Doy of 7th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, who gave his life for his country on 28 October 1916. He died at the Lord Derby War Hospital in Warrington of wounds inflicted at Bulls Run, near Flers on October 13th, 1916. He is buried in Brisley churchyard.

Rung to mark the 53rd Anniversary of the Re-Dedication of the bells after their rehang on 12th December 1964 remembering Godfrey George "Smoker" Walpole, tower captain at that time who was instrumental in getting the work done. This Quarter Peal was also rung to remember Pauline Wood Greaves who died recently and whose funeral was held at this church. She was a great supporter and generous benefactor to Norton church.
