The Thetford branch was established some six months later, making it one of the oldest continuous branches in the country. Also in memory of Godfrey George 'Smoker' Walpole, who was Ringing Master at the time and who was instrumental in getting the work carried out. Norman Cossey is the last surviving member of the original band who rang the bells at the service in 1964.
