50th peal for the Norwich Association - 6. First peal in 5 methods on the bells.

First peal in the method on the bells. The composition is a forty-three course, irregular four-part peal, with the 4-5-6 only in 6th's and now rung for the first time.

First peal on the bells.

First attempt to call a peal of Surprise. The composition contains the extent of 4 and 6 in 5-6 without the 2nd or 3rd in sixth's and is rung for the first time.

Fiftieth peal as conductor.

25th peal - 5. Longest length by all on eight bells, in the method in the county, and rung at first attempt.

The composition contains the 6th the extent in 5-6 without the 2nd in 6th's, the 3rd never there without the 6th, and all the combinations of 4-5-6 in 5-6.

Fiftieth peal for the association - 1. First Surprise peal - 3.

Great credit is due to the ringers of the treble and second, for they first began to pull a bell only during the last few days of January, and had never previously rung an extent.

First peal in the method by all, on the bells at the first attempt. A 22nd birthday (May 1st) compliment to the conductor. This 48-course composition is rung for the first time.

This peal was arranged and rung as a compliment to Mr. William Ireland on his 78th birthday, and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the King's accession.

First peal at first attempt - 3, 5. Rung as birthday compliments to Mrs. Bennett, mother of E G Bennett, and to Mr. George Williams, Master of the Winchester and Portsmouth Diocesan Guild, to whom the conductor is indebted for many kindnesses.

First in method - 1. First 'inside' in method - 6.

Rung after meeting short for Minor. This was A. J. Berry's 200th peal for the Norwich Association.

First peal of Royal - 4

Rung to 'commemorate' the twelfth occassion of 'meeting short' of members of the band in the last eight weeks. Mr. Plater, from Southgate, London, was elected a member of the association previous to commencing the peal.

Rung by special request as a compliment to his Grace the Duke of Norfolk, who visited the village and opened a fete in aid of the recreation ground.

First peal of Maximus - 6, 7, 9, 10. First peal as conductor on twelve bells.

Mr. Crook, who was elected to the association before starting, is from Bolton, and Mr. Hibbert is from London.

This composition, in a variation by the conductor, is now rung in this form for the first time.

First peal - 1. 100th peal - 3.

W. B. Duncan has now completed the circle in this tower.

First peal - 1. Mr. Roberts is from Truro, Cornwall, and was on holiday in the district.

First peal of Major at first attempt - 1. First peal in the method - 6. First of Major 'inside' and 25th peal - 7.

Rung as a compliment to Mr. John Souter, of Diss, on his 80th birthday.

Rung with the bells half-muffled as a tribute to the memory of the crew of the ill-fated R 101, Chief Wireless Operator S T Keeley's parents being respected inhabitants of the village. The ringers also had in mind the loss sustained by Mr. Ernest F Poppy, of Stoke Ash, and the Norwich Diocesan Association by the death of the Rev. A. G. Blyth, for 50 years an active member.

First peal of Doubles - 1. First peal of Doubles and on a bob bell - 2. First peal on the bells.

First peal - 1. First peal of Bob Triples - 7. First peal of Triples by all except conductor, and first attempt.

Mr. Seager is from Bradford, and was on holiday in the county.

First peal for 16 years on these bells, the finest six in the county.

This is the shortest time in which a true 5040 has been completed on six tower bells for the above association.

Rung half-muffled to the memory of the Rev. Charles Upwood Manning, Rector of Diss 1899-1916, who was interred at Diss that afternoon. When the Rev. C U Manning retired through ill health, members of the Manning family has been successively Rectors of Diss for 121 years.

The composition, which contains the 7.4.6.8's is rung for the first time.

First peal of Minor - 3. The last 3 peals at this tower have been rung after meeting short for Major.

Arranged and rung as a birrhday compliment to W. Musk.

First peal in the method - 6. First peal in the method, except of Doubles - 8. First peal of Grandsire Cinques by all the band except the ringers of the 4th and 9th. Rung as a birthday compliment to F. H. Davey.

Arranged and rung in honour of the marriage of Mr. William Clover and Miss Hartie R Elvin which took place at the Abbey Church that day at noon. The conductor's 50th peal in that capacity, 39 of which were under the auspices of the Norwich Diocesan Association, a record for that association.
