He was tower captain at Boston for many years and a former president of the Eastern branch of the Lincoln Guild. He taught and supported ringing in the whole Boston area over 9 separate decades.

A perfect gentleman, and a friend to everyone - he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace.

Half muffled practice night in memory of Tom Freeston who died on 6th June 2023, by his ringing friends in the Boston area.

Tom was a regular at Butterwick practices, service ringing and weddings and an inspiration to every person lucky enough to ring with him. He taught many bell handling and played a great part in keeping Butterwick ringing going when the tower was between captains. His last ring was at Butterwick for the coronation of Charles III.

We would like to associate this practice with those who attend or have attended Butterwick practice with Tom, and couldn’t join us tonight, especially John Collett. John ran the practices here with him for a while.

Half muffled general ringing in memory of Tom Freeston who died on 6th June 2023 by members of the Boston area group and the Lincoln Diocesan Guild.

Tom learned to ring at Boston in 1946. He became tower captain and rang there over 9 decades- last climbing the 200 steps to the ringing room at the age of 86, when building works at the church stopped the ringing for a while.

Tom was a former president of the Eastern branch of the Lincoln Diocesan Guild and had many friends throughout the guild.

We would like to associate the ringing today with those ringers who could not attend due to prior engagements, wedding ringing, the Ridgeman trophy , and the steps to the ringing room! The many tributes received are a testament to the gentleman Tom was . Rest in peace.
