Ron has previously rung quarters here on these bells on his 90th, 91st & 92nd birthdays and still rings with us here. Ron was closely involved in the restoration and augmentation of the bells here in 2004.

1920 changes was specially chosen and rung as 1920 was the year in which Ron was born (26th January 1920).

Rung on the day of national commemorations for the end of combat operations in Afghanistan, especially remembering Captain Daniel Shepherd from Lincoln, who was killed in an explosion on 20th July 2009 aged 29.

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the then record peal of surprise minor in 38 methods rung at Frampton, Lincolnshire conducted by Rhoda Reynolds, still resident in Swineshead and ringing as excellent as ever in her eighties. Well done Rhoda.

Specially arranged and rung to celebrate the official unveiling earlier this morning of the new Tank Memorial within the City on Tritton Road, close to the site where the first tank was built, and to mark the centenary of the first ever tank being built, which was built in Lincoln at the William Foster & Co Wellington Foundry which stood in this parish less than half a mile from this Church, within earshot of the bells.

Rung especially remembering Foster’s Managing Director Sir William Tritton, his Chief Draftsman William Rigby and Major Walter Wilson of the War Cabinet, the designers and manufacturers of the original tank.

Rung also to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day and the erection today of the new Bomber Command Memorial Spire on top of Canwick Hill over looking the South Common and the City towards the Cathedral.

To celebrate the sealing of Magna Carta on this day in the year 1215.

The 100th peal on the bells.

Specially arranged and rung at Langton-by-Wragby Church to mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta and to celebrate the close connections this tiny Lincolnshire village has with Magna Carta.

Stephen Langton who was Archbishop of Canterbury in 1215 was responsible for drawing up and drafting Magna Carta. He was born at the family ancestral home at the moated Manor house next door to Langton-by-Wragby Church.

Sadly the four bells at Langton-by-Wragby Church are derelict and not in a fit state to be rung, so it was decided to ring a handbell quarter at the Church instead to mark this historic anniversary.

Following the quarter an extent, 24 changes, of Canterbury Place Minimus was rung.

Rung to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta at Runnymede on 15th June 1215 and to celebrate the Patronal Festival, the feast of St Botolph (17th June).

Specially arranged and rung to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta at Runnymede on 15th June 1215 and marking the connection of Stephen Langton Archbishop of Canterbury, born at neighbouring Langton-by-Wragby, who was responsible for drawing up and drafting Magna Carta, this being the closest tower with a ringable peal of bells to Langton-by-Wragby (Unringable 4).

175th peal as conductor, this being the tower where he learnt to ring.

Rung to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta at Runnymede on 15th June 1215 which resulted in the Barron’s renewing their oaths of loyalty to King John this day in 1215.

This completes the Lincoln Magna Carta Peals with peals being rung this week at all (nearly all) the Lincoln towers (being: St Giles, St Mary-le-Wigford, St Botolph-by-Bargate & St Peter-at-Gowts) with the exception of the Cathedral!
