Pitchford who sadly passed away on Saturday 21st April 2012 aged 91. Phil was a former member of the local band at Brant Broughton for many years and rang with Yvonne Woodcock (Nee Rodgers) and her father Tom Rodgers. “Uncle Phil” and his wife Kath were close family friends of Tom & Kath Rodgers and Yvonne, living next door to them at Brant Broughton. Phil rang in the first peal on Brant Broughton bells by an all Sunday Service band in 1959 in which Tom Rodgers also rang. Phil & Kath Pitchford both attended the dedication of Potterhanworth bells in 2004. He was a true gent and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Parker. Rung to welcome the Olympic Torch to the City of Lincoln and also to mark 1 month until the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Rung as part of “The Big Ring” in Lincoln for the Olympic Torch, which involved ringing ALL the bells in the City (eg any bell which is hung outside and can be heard by the public) simultaneously for 12 minutes as the Olympic Torch enter the City. This involved the ringing of 63 individual bells at 20 different locations all over the City and is the first time ever that all the City’s bells have been rung together simultaneously at the same time! The Olympic Torch passed St Botolph's (the first Church it passed with bells in Lincoln) during this 12 minutes ringing which was then followed by a quarter peal.
