First Quarter Peal for 6. Well Done Jean! (Plain Bob Doubles inside next!)
Rung by a local band to celebrate the launch of the “Spires & Steeples Arts & Heritage Trail” which passes through Washingborough village.
The “Spires & Steeples Trail” is an inspirational new 26 mile, arts and heritage trail from Lincoln Cathedral to St. Denys’ Church Sleaford.
The trail passes through many picturesque, quite country villages between Lincoln and Sleaford and is crammed full of local art works which have been created by the local communities as well as many beautiful historic village Churches.
The Quarter Peal was rung during the unveiling of a new piece of art work on the trail in Washingborough, a newly carved wooden bench.
This was part of a relay of ringing which took place today with all the Church bells along the route of the “Spires & Steeples Trail” pealing out. Ringing started at St. Mary le Wigford Lincoln at 10.20am and finished at Dorrington at 6.00pm with ringing take place at the following Churches in between: Washingborough, Branston, Heighington, Nocton, Dunston, Metheringham, Blankney and Digby. Sadly we were unable to ring at Potterhanworth, Ruskington and Sleaford. Thank you to all the ringers who took part in today’s ringing.
