Rung as a tribute to Rev Chad Varah, founder of the Samaritans, who died earlier in the week. Chad Varah grew up in St Peter's Barton vicarage. This peal was intended to be rung at St Peter's, but was switched to St Mary's when English Heritage did not turn up with a key! Grateful thanks to Roger Lord and the vicar of St Mary's for allowing this change of venue at the very last minute.
