Specially arranged and rung half muffled by a Central Branch band in affectionate memory of Robert Sutton who was Tower Captain here at St. Michael’s Church Waddington, on the day of his funeral.

Robert sadly passed away on Tuesday 26th June 2007 after a brave fight against Cancer. He was a great supporter of both the Central Branch and the Lincoln Diocesan Guild and he will be greatly missed by many.

Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Three of the ringers (Treble, 2 and 6) were members of the local band, taught to ring by Robert himself. First quarter peal - 6.

Specially arranged and rung by a Central Branch band in affectionate memory of Robert Sutton who was Tower Captain at St. Michael’s Church Waddington, Lincolnshire, on the day after his funeral.

Robert rung a number of peals here at St. Oswald's Church Blankney and called the conductors first peal here back in April 2002.

He was a great supporter of both the Central Branch and the Lincoln Diocesan Guild and he will be greatly missed by many.

Rung to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the Ordination of Rev'd John Penny, husband of the vicar of this Parish

Arranged and ring to celebrate the first 'Lincolnshire Day'. The date was chosen because on this day in 1536 a sermon was preached in St James church Louth expressing concern with the contents of the 10 Articles of Religion recently imposed by Henry VIII. It was also rumoured that the King intended to close all churches less than 7 miles apart and valuables including bells sold to provide funds for the King's treasury. The next day the Lincolnshire Rising erupted - an event which caused the King so much concern that he referred to the rebels as 'the commons of a brute and beastly shire'. Welbourn bells are appropriate as these are the 'wild bells' referred to by Tennyson in his epic poem 'In Memoriam'. At the time the poem was written the eight bells were at Hagworthingham.
