Rev. Dr. John Saxbee, who spent the day visiting the three Villages & Churches in this Parish. Earlier in the day he spent time talking to the local band of ringers and also discussed the Bell Project which has taken place here over the past four years and involved the Restoration and Augmentation of the bells. Rung before Morning Prayer by mainly youngsters from the local band for the Episcopal Visitation by the Bishop of Lincoln the Rt. Rev. Dr. John Saxbee, who spent the day visiting the three Villages & Churches in this Parish. The youngsters rang the tower bells before the service and after they played Immortal Invisible on handbells. The Bishop spent time with the youngsters of the local band and he was very impressed with them and their ringing! After this the Tower Captain and the Ringing Master explained the scheme they have set up with the local Primary School in teaching youngsters to ring. He was lastly shown round the display boards at the back of Church which explained the Bell Fund Project which has taken place here over the past four years and involved the Restoration and Augmentation of the bells. Dr Philip Marshall passed away peacefully on Saturday 16th July 2005. He was Organist & Master of the Choristers at Lincoln Cathedral from 1966 to 1986, having held a similar post previously at Ripon Cathedral. The Dean & Chapter made him Organist Emeritus in the early 1990's. Dr Philip Marshall was well known for his brilliant accompaniments and improvisations, he was a prolific composer of organ music, anthems, chants and a superb improviser and was well known and respected by musicians all over the country. The address in the service was given by Dr Francis Jackson, Organist Emeritus of York Minster who was a close friend and colleague of Dr Philip Marshall.
