Rung to mark the final Service at this church today of the Venerable Andrew Ballard, former Archdeacon of Rochdale and Archdeacon of Manchester, and his wife Caroline, moving to a new retirement home at Harpenden, Herts after 12 years with us in supposed 'retirement'. Andrew and Caroline have filled a large hole in the current interregnum. This Quarter is also dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of the Revd David Martineau of Barrow-upon-Humber. Local Tower Captain Andrew Groves wishes to be associated with this Quarter, being unable to ring due to work commitments.

Rung after meeting short for a Peal attempt specially arranged in thanksgiving for the life of Matthew Wilkinson, son of Barrow & District Society Deputy Master Paul Wilkinson and his wife Wendy, who died on 8th July 2021 after a brave battle against cancer.

Roger Gair, Secretary of Leeds University writes: Over the fifteen years he worked at the University, Matthew provided outstanding support to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies, the Student Education Service and the Schools of Politics and International Studies and Sociology and Social Policy. Staff, student and visitors alike benefitted from his compassionate and caring nature. Always approachable, kind and generous with his time, he was a highly valued and admired colleague and I know that his loss will be felt deeply throughout the Schools, the Faculty and the wider University. I have arranged for the flag on the Parkinson Building to be flown at half-mast on the day of his funeral in his memory.

Treble ringer has now rung a recordable peal on every stage from 3 to 16 and is the first to do so.

1st in the method 'inside' - 2. Rung in thanksgiving for the life of John Henry Tomlinson (22/07/26 to 9/11/20) whose Memorial Service was held here on 28th September 2021. John Tomlinson was the last but one surviving member of the band that rang the first Peal on the newly augmented 8 bells at Barrow-upon-Humber on 26th April 1954. He was the Treble ringer. He was also a distinguished horticulturalist and judge at many horticultural events.

1st on 10 for over 35 years - 3. Rung to celebrate the life and acknowledge the public service of Austin Mitchell, for many years dedicated MP for Great Grimsby whose memorial Service was held last week, and of David Salter of Ipswich, Suffolk for his services to ringing. Congratulations to Toby Hibbert who starts his studies at Imperial College, London this week reading Chemistry.

Most m/v to a Peal - 4. Specially arranged on Barrow & District Society AGM weekend in thanksgiving for the life of Matthew Wilkinson, son of Society Deputy Master Paul Wilkinson and his wife Wendy, who died on 8th July 2021 after a brave battle against cancer. This composition of 49 m/v was arranged to provide one m/v for each year of Matthew's life.

Most m/v in a Quarter Peal 'inside' - 2. Variation 1 b/h: Glanford Brigg (Plain Bob with its own Bob and Pink's Singles) is now named for the first time. No true 120 is possible but since the Framework for Method Ringing abolished the requirement that Variations must have a true 120, true longer round blocks can now be named.

As this was meant to be a warning we tried to make it as discordant as possible.
