Shunka Bloka (He Dog) (1840 - 1936) was a Oglala Sioux Chief and nephew of Red Cloud, who fought in every major battle with the US Cavalry in the 1870s. He became a respected Judge of the Indian Court at Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

Tashun Kakokipapi (They-Fear-Even-His-Horses) (1830-1900), was a prominent Chieftain when the Sioux resisted attempts by the United States government to build the Montana trail through the hunting grounds of Powder River, resulting in a two year conflict known as Red Cloud's War. He retired to serve as President of the Pine Ridge Indian Council.

Matho Wayúhi (Conquering Bear) (1800 - August 19th, 1854) was a Brulé Sioux chief who signed the Fort Laramie Treaty (1851). He was shot in the back by cavalry under Lt Grattan who entered his camp to arrest a Sioux who had shot a calf belonging to Mormons. All 30 troopers were annihilated, in the resulting Grattan Massacre.

Rung to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Oldfield, faithful supporter of the church, architect and smallholder of New Holland in this parish who died recently aged 72 years.
Wanmdi Thanka (Jerome Big Eagle) (1827 - 1906) was the Chief of a band of Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux in Minnesota. He lead his band at the battles of New Ulm, Fort Ridgley, Birch Coulee and Wood Lake in the Dakota War of 1862, eventually surrendering, and later becoming a respected statesman and historian of his people.

During a special morning service the Barrow upon Humber Toc H lamp was lit for the last time, this final ceremony being performed by Norman Bell a retired Barrow ringer.
