First Quarter Peal at Stoughton for Alison

Rung twice at the monthly Western Division Surprise Minor practice, in memory of Hamish McNaughton who sadly died last Monday (20/03/2023).

Hamish was an avid supporter of these practices for many years, and a good personal friend to many of us. He also played a huge part in the life of the wider SCACR, serving as General Secretary from 2018 to 2022.

Hamish would have been 74 this year, hence the length of the touch.

Rung for Evening Prayer In Memoriam Hamish McNaughton, who died of brain cancer on Monday 20th March. A much respected and admired member of the Walberton and Chichester Cathedral bands and the Sussex County Assn. His memory will endure.

Specially arranged & rung in fond memory of Hamish McNaughton, who loved his handbell ringing and regularly rang handbell peals with this band. He was an extremely solid handbell ringer, and an absolute pleasure to ring with. These handbell peals included a number of achievements which he was most proud of, including the first handbell peal of Bristol Surprise Royal for the association (2020) and the first handbell peal of London (No.3) Surprise Royal for the association (2022).

Rung in Thanksgiving for the life of Brian Ronald Cooksey, 29 April 1949 - 30 March 2023. Brian was a member of this church, who some years ago made and etched the 3 brasses depicting views o f St Peters in Saxon, Victorian and modern times, that are fixed to the font steps. The font is situated in the centre of our ground floor peal of bells.
