RW 1962 p 774 Also, from Belfry Gossip in RW 1962 p 772: Those who know their Sussex towers will take note of the peal at St. Saviour's, Eastbourne, on October 20th. In the last 30 or so years only three attempts have been made on this resonant Warner eight. In 1937, for The Coronation of George VI, Frank Bennett brought round Stedman Triples in 3 hours 17 minutes, and in 1946 Oliver Sippetts conducted the first of Major on the bells (Double Norwich) in just two minutes less. These two performances are the slowest recorded. Another attempt in Coronation Week, 1953, failed. Peals at St. Saviour's, Eastbourne, are rare since installation in the 1880s. Mrs. Percy is the first lady to ring a peal on the bells.
