Ray was a stalwart of the Ashford District, and a stickler for good striking, who made great efforts over many years to bring on keen young ringers, especially including the Conductor and 4th ringer some twenty years since. His contribution to the strength of the District over the years in this regard cannot be over-estimated. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
