In memoriam Pat Bartlett

Rung following the funeral of Pat Bartlett, a ringer here for over 65 years

Rung to mark the anniversary of Henry Edward (Harry) Foster.

Who would have been 100 years old on 25th May 2019.

Veteran of Dunkirk & Burma. Who then returned to Tetbury, and to marry the girl he had met during the war, and lived lived in Tetbury until his death in 1986.

Remembering Private William Dunn, 1st King's Dragoon Guards. Died of Wounds aged 36 on 24 May 1919 in Peshawar. A member of the Dunn family of Rose Hill Cottage, Bisley. He was married to Zilpah Smith in this church 18 December 1913 and they made their home at Mount Pleasant, Bisley. He was a farm worker. William was the last Bisley man to die in the conflict known as World War 1. We at Bisley have, over the last 5 years, attempted a Quarter or a Peal in memory of each and every Bisley man who died during WW1. Most attempts were rung on the exact anniversary and we have been successful with every attempt. 21 Quarter Peals, 3 Peals and 30 Fallen.

Rung half muffled by a Sunday service band to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the death of Woodchester ringer, Sapper Bernard Paul Cordwell, aged 22 years, 80th Assault Squadron, Royal Engineers. After 2 years of secret training, he was killed on Juno Beach early on D Day, whilst assisting the Canadian invasion force in their landing.

Rung by Cheltenham ringers to mark the Victory peal rung this day in 1919 by returning soldiers from this area. The original peal was recorded on a pealboard as a thankoffering (sic) for victory and a safe return to their homes.

To mark the 40th anniversary this day of the re-dedication of the augmented and re-hung bells and to celebrate the life of Phylip Harries 1944-2019 brother in law of 4. 6 & 4 also rang in the first QP on the augmented bells.
