The bells at St Mary’s Nantwich were rung at 11:30am on Monday 17 May for 20 minutes to mark the start of Nantwich’s Dementia Awareness week.
This was the first time in over a year when it was possible to ring fairly normally on 6 bells, albeit still with appropriate distancing and other covid-related precautions. Service ringing on this number of bells will resume from Sunday 23 May (hitherto ringing on just a couple of bells was all which was permitted).
As the theme of the week is to colour the town blue to draw people’s attention to the event, Bill Humphries, one of the ringers taking part, made a blue flag to fly from the tower out of an old sheet. Don’t say we don’t air our laundry in public!
