A thanksgiving for the life of J Frederick Howard, a ringer at St Paul's for over 53 years & tower captain for 20 years. Past churchwarden, former Sunday school superintendent and faithful church member. The ringers of 1,3,4,5,6 took part in Fred's last attempt at a Q on "his" bells and were pleased to be joined by one of his longstanding ringing friends in this thanksgiving quarter. As a convenient train (at least 4 hourly services) was missed back to the North East for the ringers of 2 & 4 the ringer of the 7th felt obliged to help/navigate them (Martin an ex resident of the town) on their tour of the many real ale establishments in the town.
Mission accomplished.
Sad to report the ringer of the Treble fell by the wayside.
The 6th ringer suffered a puncture (car) just as she was leaving from the 1st pub for home to pack prior to driving to a peal at Inveraray!
