He was a member of the band that scored silent and unconducted peals of Stedman Cinques at all the 12's in England during the 60's and 70's. It was only with the arrival of Philip Tubbs and Charles Kippin in the 1960s, that an influx of younger ringers, male and female, were encouraged, keen to extend their skills to advanced methods on twelve bells, as the profusion of peals rung in the following two decades testified.
