This was the first time the bells have been rung for church service since the 1960’s. The bells have been refurbished and re-hung in a new frame installed at the end of 2023. A new band of novice bell ringers started learning in 2024, so it’s a great achievement to resume service ringing in 2025.

In commemoration of villagers Frederick Ernest Charles Butcher, Reginald Cann and Alan Wentworth Hazel, members of the 1st Battalion Cambridgeshire Regiment, based in Singapore when the Japanese invaded. Frederick and Reginald were killed on the day of the invasion, 15 February 1942. Alan died a prisoner of war on 24 June 1943.

In memory of Phil's father Tom who served in the merchant navy in the far east, George's father who served in the border regiment and was posted to the north west frontier, Stanley's grandfather Shorwa Khaka who served in Mozambique, Geoff's father Thomas who served in the Royal Engineers in Burma, and Richard Whidborne who was a Prisoner of War in Burma. Also remembering all those affected and being thankful for peace.
