Dick, as he was known by his very many friends and colleagues, was the Rector of St Andrew's Roker, and Team Rector for Monkwearmouth. He was a competent ringer himself and participated in the Coronation ringing for King Charles III at St. Andrew's in 2023. A highly respected, amicable and very kind man, Dick was also a very good friend to the St Andrew's ringers. His New Year's Eve soirees included an invitation for the local ringers and had become legendary amongst us.
