Captain Thomas Murray Only son of John and Isabella E. Murray of Church Street, Rothbury. Husband to Dora Murray of 1, Woodfield Road, Tonbridge, Kent. Aged 31. Enlisted and gazetted in September 1914, promoted Captain in December 1914 and served in 11th. Battalion Cheshire Regiment. His name is on the Thiepval Memorial, pier and face 3C and 4A His name is recorded on the ringers plaque in this Cathedral. Died aged 27, on the 24th July 1916 of wounds received on the 3rd July. He was with the 13th. Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen. Grave Officers A.4. 10.
