In the evening the 4th annual Mary Dawson dinner was held at the Corn Road Restaurant, Rothbury. The evening was well attended by Rothbury Ringers and friends. The Rev Gillian South proposed the toast to Mary Dawson and during her short speech read out the following poem; "Notes from the Belfry" Sweet All Saint's bells over Coquet dells ring out with voices clear, their echoes from the Cragside Hils fall soft upon the ear. And on the sacred Sabbath Morn their peaceful voice is heard, calling all the faithful souls to prayer to hear God's holy word. And at the Merry Christmas tide they wake the starlit morn, as when the herald angels song "unto us a child is born" And on some joyful wedding morn their notes sing far and wide, to greet the happy bridegroom and bless the bony bride. And when at last the passing bell peals forth with solemn boom, bidding the weary spirit rest calling the wanderer home.
