Partington, former tower captain of Heywood and ringer at St. Chad's Rochdale who bequeathed the two new trebles. John was a well known and respected ringer, not only in Rochdale but throughout the Country and was a great supporter of ringing at St. Chad's. It had long been John's wish that Rochdale should have a ring of ten bells.

In remembrance of James Richardson, former ringer at St Leonard’s Middleton, one of the many casualties of the Normandy Campaign. James was killed in action on 8th July 1944, a very sad loss to the Local Ringing Band. Remembered with pride and with other Local World War casualties on a plaque in the Lady Chapel in this Church and Rolls of Honour with CCCBR in St Paul's Cathedral London.
