Rung prior to the Patronal Festival Service to welcome our new curate, Fr. Ryan and also in memory of Pte. George Ernest Humphreys, a resident of St. Annes, who died of Spanish flu and influenza on 2/1/1921 having served his country during WW1. This commemoration could not be undertaken on the centenary of his death due to Covid-19. This QP is the 50th and final QP rung at this Church, in this series, which remember a total of 183 residents of St. Anne’s whose names are listed on the town WW1 war memorial and/or on church memorial boards in the town. The band would like to express their thanks to Fiona and Gerald Wilson, for all the research undertaken to find the stories behind the names of the town’s fallen.
